Customize the Texturize Template - Add Your Own Links to the Left Navigation Bar

The Texurize Theme creates a layout where you have links on the top and left sides of the page. The links that appear at the top of the page are set by ShopSite. The links that appear on the left use the Page Link feature built within ShopSite. You can add links to the left navigation by linking pages to each other in your store.

If you would like add your own links that are not ShopSite pages, you would need to modify the Texturize template itself. Below are the steps that you would go through in order to modify the Texturize templates to show your custom left navigation bar.

1.   Copy the Texturize templates. Below are a list of files and templates that you would need to copy in your store.

2.   Locate the "Categories" section. Within all of these templates and template files locate the "Categories" section. Below shows what this section will look like in each of the files above. Note, the Texturize-crHeader.sst does not have this section, you will add it in later on.

In the Texturize.sst template the section looks like:

In the Texturize-Search.sst and Texturize-GiftCert.sst templates the section looks like:

In the Texturize-MoreInfoPage.sst template the section looks like:

3.   Add your own links using the format below. Add the line of code shown below, and replace the URL with the full URL to the page you want to link to, and replace "Page Name" with the text you would like displayed for the link.

Your final code should look similar to:

4.   Replace the "Category" section in all the theme files. Replace the "Category" section in all the theme files with this new "Category" section. In the Texturize-crHeader.sst file, add this section in within the "contentleft" DIV.

5.   Copy YOUR copy and name it the EXACT same as the original. Once you have finished making modifications, you can copy your copied templates and give them the exact same name as the originals. If you do this, your new templates will override the original templates. Once your file names override the originals, you can use the regular Texturize theme and it will read your new files and display your new links.
